De afgelopen veertien jaar heeft Calexico acht self released tour-cd`s gemaakt met materiaal dat op geen enkel `officieel` Calexico album staat. Stuk voor stuk gelimiteerde cd`s die alleen te koop waren bij hun live-shows. Die tour-cd`s zijn nu allemaal ge-remastered en uitgesmeerd over twaalf lp`s (4 enkele lp`s en 4 dubbele) in een spectaculaire box. Als je goed luistert hoor je telkens de geschiedenis achter Calexico`s reguliere albums. De ene keer is dat woestijnachtig, de andere keer poppier en zwoel. Op de cd-versie staan zestien hoogtepunten van al die tour-cd`s en zo lijkt de ontwikkeling van de band nog meer vaart te krijgen. Dat is prachtig, retrospectief en in zekere zin intiem.
